The Charlton School is a not-for-profit residential treatment center (RTC) and special education school (Ketchum-Grande Memorial School) physically located within the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District. We provide for the education and treatment of emotionally fragile girls in grades 8 through 12, with a maximum enrollment of 41 students (29 residential, 13 day program). We are licensed and regulated by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the New York State Education Department (approved as an Article 853 school in 2005), and the New York State Health Department. Our governing body is a volunteer Board of Trustees.
The ultimate goal of The Charlton School is to help our students become emotionally healthy, socially well-adjusted individuals who are able to achieve their highest level of individual independence. To achieve this goal our educational and treatment interventions focus on helping our students improve competency with executive functioning and self-advocacy.
