About Us

The Battles of Saratoga were named ''most crucial battle of the last 1000 years'' by New York Times Magazine in 1999. Here, in 1777, brave Americans decisively defeated an invading British army, winning a victory so powerful that it drew international allies and turned the tide to ultimately win America's War for Independence.

The Park is made up of four parts:
- The Battlefield, located in Stillwater, is the largest of the four sites making up the park. Here you will find the visitor center where you can pick up a map and pay your entrance fee. The Visitor Center is open 9-5 and also contains restrooms, a gift shop, a 20-minute movie, and several displays. The Battlefield itself is accessible by self-guided driving tours or hiking trails.

- The Schuyler House in Schuylerville is the restored country estate of American General Phillip Schuyler. It is located about 7 miles north of the Battlefield. The house is open seasonally, please call for hours.

- The Saratoga Monument, located in the Village of Victory about 7 1/2 miles north of the Battlefield, is a 155-foot obelisk commemorating the American Victory in Saratoga. The Monument is open seasonally, please call for hours.

- Victory Woods is the newest part of the park opened in 2010! It is a trail which begins just behind the Monument and takes the visitor into the woods where the British were encamped in the week before the surrender. There is an accessible, half-mile boardwalk and pathway which winds through the swampy woods, open every day during daylight hours.
