SUMMARY:Civil War Weekend
DESCRIPTION:U.S. Grant Cottage in Wilton\, NY\, the place where the "Man Who Saved the Union" spent the last six weeks of his life completing his famous Civil War Memoirs\, will conduct a two-day Civil War Weekend during the August Racing season. With more than 100 uniformed reenactors\, period musicians and living historians in encamped on the site of the former Wilton Developmental Center we expect the event will serve as a major fundraiser for the continuing the work of the Cottage. \n\nAs the town of Wilton celebrates its 200-year anniversary\, Grant Cottage will recognize the dozen or so Wilton residents who served bravely in the Civil War. The magnitude of the Civil War Weekend is sure to be a highlight of Wilton?s Bi-Centennial on the grounds of the D.A. Collins Construction Company within site of Mt. McGregor. The weekend will enclude battle scenarious with Civil War era artillery\, cavalry and infantry skirmishes. Food and drink will be for sale at the site and tours of Grant Cottage will be conducted during the event.
