DESCRIPTION:This basic course will be a good class for anyone wishing to learn the first steps to becoming a blacksmith. The class will be directed toward those who hope to become a serious amateur or even wish to become a professional smith. Instruction will emphasize fire management\, proper heating of materials and heat control\, simple tools - their heat treatment and use\, estimation of stock and the understanding of measurement unique to blacksmithing\, as well as basic forge welding practices. These procedures will be taught while making basic smithing tools that you will bring home with you. Bring a notebook and pencil. Be prepared to learn and have fun doing it!\n\n\n\n \n\n\nNOTE:  Hard shoes and long pants are required for student safety. Owing to the physical demands and to safety issues\, this class is suggested for students 18 years of age and older.
